Seminar topics included cardiovascular fitness, circulatory issues, insulin education, and more. Workshops and informational resources were provided to help individuals and their families better manage diabetes through understanding blood glucose, proper nutrition, and regular exercise. The popular, “The Doctor is In” booth, provided the community opportunities to meet one-on-one with a physician to ask their questions.

The Diabetes Symposium brought it all together in one place and on one day, physicians and health care clinicians who are experts in explaining the many complications associated with diabetes, including vision problems, circulatory issues and more. For one day, the Symposium offered a powerhouse of knowledge to the community. Attendees listened as the experts shared their knowledge and provided a well-rounded approach to diabetes education and self-care.

Attendees were able to take advantage of such things as free screenings, body mass index, foot sensory checks, blood pressure, glucose screenings, and much more.

The Diabetes Symposium was free of charge and open to the community.  One of the registrants commented that this event was a great opportunity for her to “Bring my questions, learn new recipes and get the encouragement I need to make positive changes in my life.”
